Green cleaning doesn't have to be difficult or expensive. And don't let it overwhelm you! It only takes a little extra time to learn what is in your cleaning product. So start small. I suggest picking one or two of your cleaners from under the sink and reading the label. My motto is," if you can't say it you shouldn't spray it!" There are lots of over the counter products that are full of toxic chemicals. But there are natural alternatives that really work just as well.
Also, stop using the bleach and ammonia. I know you've been using it for years and it's what you mother always used. But it is not a healthy choice! It can be very dangerous to you and your family.
So just start small and read the labels. One of my favorite sites is: http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/index.htm This is the National Library of Medicine and it has an index to look up any product you use. It relies on brand-specific labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) prepared by manufacturers. You can look up your products there.
