Boston GreenFest 2010

It was a beautiful day at Government Center in Boston. I was glad I was asked to speak. It was a great event for the entire family. Here are some highlights of the event if you weren't able to make it in!

You couldn't have asked for a better weather day!

The Plaza was filled with people, vendors and lots of great music!

It seemed like everything was green!

I got to meet some great new friends and learn about their businesses. This is Emily form Gazelle. http://www.gazelle.com/ They are into "re-use". They will actually get you cash for your old electronics.

I also got to catch up with some old friends. This is the Bioneers by the Bay booth. They were promoting their Connecting for Change event in October. Make sure you check it out.

There was even something there for Red Sox Fans! It was the perfect event for everyone!

A visit to Dunia in Maynard, Ma

I was lucky enough to spend the day with Paige from Dunia - an Earth-friendly store for your home, your body and your soul. Dunia is the perfect place to find treasures for yourself or your eco-friends. Stop in frequently as Paige has new items coming in all the time. You can see a sample of her store at www.dunia-ecostore.com but the real fun is experiencing it in person. Trust me, it is worth the trip. Dunia is located in downtown Maynard, which has some other great stores for your shopping experience. Enjoy!

Taste of the Vally 2010

Taste of the Valley 2010
Our Taste of the Valley 2010 was a HUGE success! Everyone had a great time and we can't thank Friendly Discount Liquors for their great showing of wine and beer (I especially liked the Blueberry Beer - it tasted like a sparkling after dinner drink!) Make sure you stop in and check out the special pricing for the wines at Friendly's. They usually will extend the pricing for a few more days after our event!
We also would like to thank Brian's Restaurant, The Daily Bread, How Sweet it is Cupcakes, Whole Foods and In-Home Chef for their generous donations of food. Please let them know how much you appreciated their involvement!

Thanks to your donations we raised enough to provide the Summer Lunch Program enough funds to continue another year! Thanks to you- we can feed the hungry kids in the Blackstone Valley.

Look for more about the event in the Around Town Section of the Telegram and Gazette. Their photographer was snapping pictures all night. Check back on this site and see if you're in one of them! Also, please comment on this post and let us know what you thought of the evening!

Eco Dorm Necessities

We are putting together "Eco Dorm Kits" for college kids to take to school. Since my daughter was a freshman in college last year - I have the "pulse" on the green things they need at school. Here is a quick rundown of some cool products. You can check the links for more info and we'd would love to help you with any questions.

Skoy Cloths- instead of paper towels
Charlie's Soap -a great laundry soap that is green and earth friendly. One bag with last the semester
Eureka stick broom - vacuum without electricity- uses a rechargeable battery.
Mrs. Meyers green cleaning starter kit - a perfect size for a small dorm room
Fresh Wave Dorm Kit - Most college kids use Fabreze to "clean" their dorms. A better- all natural product that removes smells is made by Freshwave and they just came out with a Dorm Kit- actually it's called a Stinky Dorm Kit!
EVA shower curtain so you don't have any VOC's in your bathroom!
And if they really want to be green, you can give them a copy of the book: The Joy of Green Cleaning- which is a recipe book for going green.
Buy yourself some tissues made from recycled paper products at Whole Foods or Trader Joes and you are set to take the trip to college!

Another Friday Night!
What a wonderful week. I was lucky enough to be invited back to Whole Foods for another hands-on workshop. I love doing them, because they always turn into mastermind groups. This workshop was a real treat. We had a mom that is a Ovarian Cancer survivor, along with a brand new mom who brought her little one in a back pack. (It’s never too early to start teaching them to clean!). I had a great time and even learned a few more things you can do with baking soda. Did you know if you mixed up baking soda and water into a paste it will clean the burnt on spots on your iron. Another great tip!
